The Albanian Media Institute, with the support of UNESCO - MDG F JP,  organized in early 2011 a competition for the best essay on the topic: “Instead of clash, alliance of civilizations: my opinion”, for high school students in the country. The participants were invited to express their opinions in short essays on the topic of relations among different civilizations, cultures, and religions. The jury was composed of five members: Zana Tabaku (education expert); Virgjil Muçi (writer, translator); Alma Hodo (Albanian language-Literature teacher, “Sami Frashëri” high school); Arben Muka (journalist,  Deutsche Welle correspondent); Agim Doksani (coordinator at the Albanian Media Institute).

The jury selected first the best twenty essays, which were published in a book. After assessment of established criteria, such as depth of thought, expression abilities, accuracy and expression style, the three best essays were proclaimed.

The first award was given to Megi Mulita, student at high school “Petro Nini Luarasi”, Tirana, while the second and third awards were given respectively to Klevi Elezi (high school “Sami Frashëri”, Tirana) and Olsi Pajo (high school “Qemal Stafa”, Tirana).

The awards were handed out in a ceremony that took place in Hotel Sheraton, with the participation of the deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Edmond Haxhinasto and the Coordinator of United Nations Agency in Albania Zineb Touimi-Benjelloun. In the greeting speech in this ceremony, Mr. Haxhinasto congratulated the winner Mulita on her analytic essay,e specially on "the conclusions that she had reached with the maturity of her age." At the end, he invited the winner to spend one month at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to get acquainted with the institution and with different issues of foreign policy.
