“Media and the Coronavirus” is the latest publication of the Albanian Media Institute, a collection of guidelines for journalists reporting the corona virus pandemic. Based on the guidelines of well-known media organizations such as Article 19, BBC Media Action, IJnet, Ethical Journalism Network, etc. this publication provides Albanian journalists with basic knowledge on pandemic coverage. The publication provides guidance on how journalists should protect themselves and the public while reporting. On the other hand, the publication dwells extensively on the phenomenon of info-demia, on the spread of fake news, misinformation and conspiracies about COVID-19 and the ways to handle them. Media ethics, safety and mental health are also part of this handbook. The publication was made possible with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy, in the framework of the project implemented by SEENPM “Debunking Misinformation in South East Europe.”
