The handbook “Media relations with justice institutions: Manual on best international practices and standards and guidelines on reporting from the court,” is a manual intended to assist reporters that cover the justice reform. The handbook addresses a series of justice institutions, their nature, and focuses on the practical details of communication and reports on these institutions. In order to bring a different perspective, the manual also examines the experience of media relations and reporting on USA federal court and on the penal courts of the United Kingdom. The handbook also looks at specific cases where investigative journalists’ rights were violated and standards of freedom of information were infringed in European countries. The handbook also brings detailed information on the forms and procedures of cooperation of media with justice information and the due access to the new institutions of justice, such as the Independent Qualification Commission and the Special Appellate College. The Manual also takes on a more general approach in terms of tackling the ways of reporting from the court, including a glossary of legal terms, the specific procedures for special cases, and the rules and guidelines to have in mind for a highly ethical and professional report in this field. The handbook was published in the framework of a grant supported by the ‘Civil Society programme for Albania and Kosovo’, financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and managed by Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF) in partnership with Partners Albania for Change and Development (PA).
